Description:
Sugestion for Building Blocks that allow to construct on multiple levels of abstraction - building from object , to structure , to non structure , with processes , living spaces , knowledge relations , etc
By the way , an idea for later - perhaps some of you played with lego blocks , or wooden blocks , when you where younger ? I m really interested in using such medium , at different size scales , both digital and non-digital , and also the combination between the two , and understand how to connect and build on them while also associating them with processes , information and knowledge.
I really would be happy to have a big set of soft yet firm blocks of different shapes/geometries ,
have the capacity to fold them , find ways of making them extremely strong and long lasting , making them sustainable but also use ecological materials , that would be easily available and very low cost , and can be produced easily.
I m interested in temporary , or rather , continually evolving structures , and non-structures , and the relations between them. Hence also the interest in the interaction between blocks/structures , with processes of change of shape and position of blocks and their position and relations between each other , with at the same time the capacity to build on abstractions and non structures at the level of relations with the blocks , but with other pieces of information.
Space / Shape / Movement and Process / Information - and also digital / non-digital , and the interaction with the people and the effects on them , opening up new mediums for living spaces , processes , visualization , interaction , and expression - new forms of language.
ok , I copyleft this ;-)
perhaps you know some related projects ?
what is fun with such kind of aproach is that it is possible to start with some more basic forms of abstraction , and then gradually increase the level of abstraction in the relations ... and its also fun ... well , when I play with it in my head :-p - I also like the aesthetics of it - I imagine that even in public spaces we could have some huge blocks composed of other smaller blocks , that people can climb on it and continually recreate their environment ... while also interacting with digital and non digital worlds :-p
